Purpose The purpose of the Distinguished Forensic Scientist Award is to honour an individual (or a team) who has/have performed outstanding work resulting in a major advance in forensic science in general. Eligibility European forensic scientists. A team of forensic scientists could also be accepted as a candidate. In this case, the team leader (no special definition) must be European. Criteria Work undertaken must have been published (or have been fully accepted for publication before the deadline for application) in a peer reviewed scientific journal in order to show its multi-disciplinary character. Awarding Body The EAFS SC. Timescale for Eligibility Not specified. It may be a lifetime period (oeuvre-award). Presentation The award will be presented at the Triennial EAFS Meeting closing ceremony. The recipient will be invited to the EAFS Triennial Meeting and registration fees will be reimbursed by the EAFS local organizer. Prize The Award consists of a diploma plus an engraved plate or sculpture. Decision Making Process (including timetable) - Anyone can make a nomination and a completed application form should be sent to the EAFS SC. However, a forensic science laboratory director (ENFSI-members as well as non-ENFSI-members) has to give support to the proposal. Deadline: to be announced.
