ENFSI Application for 2011 EU Monopoly Funds Submitted to the European Commission

 

On December 21, 2011 ENFSI submitted its formal application for the 2011 EC monopoly funds. The requested funding (Euro 646,931) will allow ENFSI to carry out the Monopoly Programme 2011 (MP2011) entitled “Improving Forensic Methodology across Europe”.

2010 EC-ENFSI Monopoly Grant Agreement signed by ENFSI Secretary

 

On 19 of December 2011, Wim Neuteboom, the ENFSI Secretary, formally signed the 2010 EC-ENFSI Monopoly Grant Agreement. As a result, ENFSI Community can now officially launch Monopoly Programme 2010 entitled "Strengthening the Evaluation of Forensic Results across Europe".

ENFSI Chairman Participates in 28th EA General Assembly to Discuss ENFSI - EA Cooperation


On 23 November 2011 around 100 people from around the globe met in Warsaw, Poland to attend 28th General Assembly of European Cooperation for Accreditation (EA). ENFSI Chairman – Paweł Rybicki was one of the participants. He was present there at the invitation of Mr. Graham Talbot – the Chairman of the EA. During the Assembly, Pawel Rybicki gave a presentation devoted to standardization of forensic sciences in Europe, which was enthusiastically received by the GA audience.

ENFSI Joint Meeting in the Hague

On 1 -2 December 2011, the Netherlands Forensic Institute in the Hague hosted ENFSI Joint Meeting. The Chairs of ENFSI Expert Working Groups (EWG-s) as well as Standing Committees (SC-s) gathered in the Hague to discuss the most important issues with the ENFSI Board.

NEW ENFSI MEMBER: National Forensics Bureau in Georgia

During the last ENFSI Board meeting held at the Netherlands Forensic Institute in the Hague, the Board took an unanimous decision to accept new ENFSI member – National Forensics Bureau in Georgia (NFB).

Security Research Conference in Warsaw, 2011

On 19-21 of September 2011, Warsaw hosted the sixth Security Research Conference. This important event was attended by the representatives of Universities, research organizations, industry, public authority etc.

NEW ENFSI MEMBER: National Bureau of Expertises in Armenia

At the last Board Meeting held on 15-16 September in Funchal, Madeira the ENFSI Board decided to accept the National Bureau of Expertises in Armenia as a new ENFSI Member. The Board’s decision was preceded by an Assessment performed on 30 of August 2011 by the an assessment team consisting of Christina Bertler, QCC Chair and Pawel Rybicki, current ENFSI Chairman.

Polish forensic initiative

During the last meeting of the Law Enforcement  Working Party (LEWP), held on 15 of July 2011 in Brussels, Pawel Rybicki - the ENFSI Chairman, presented main points of Polish Forensic Initiative  on the vision for European Forensic Science 2020. The reception of his speech in Brussels allows one to look optimistically at the future of forensic sciences in Europe. The forthcoming months seem to promise well. In fact, they may determine future role of ENFSI in the area of forensic science in the European Union.

New Board Members

At the Annual Meeting 2011 in Tallinn, Lourdes Puigbarraca (Spain) and Üllar Lanno (Estonia) were elected as a new board member and as the chairman designate respectively replacing Tore Olsson (Sweden) and Pawel Rybicki (Poland). Chairman designate Pawel Rybicki took over from Jan De Kinder (Belgium) as the new ENFSI chairman.
